How Puppy Pinata Began

In 2004, Jussi De Fazio and his dog Caesar were making trip after trip to the pet store buying dog toys. When a new toy was bought, Caesar played with them for a little while but seemed bored. When treats were given, Jussi gave them to Caesar by hand; Caesar didn't 'earn' the treat-except for the basic human commands "Sit" or "Down". Jussi knew that Caesar's inner "wolf" or natural instincts wanted something more stimulating. Dogs want to hunt and catch their prey. They want to have interaction with the food and work for it.

Of all the toys previously bought for Caesar, the plush stuffed toys were a favorite. Caesar also enjoyed stimulating search and hunt games such as when told "Go Find It" after Jussi hid treats around the house.

The idea of a pre-stuffed plush toy was invented. Puppy Pinata company debuted in Fall 2008.

The Puppy Pinata is a unique idea (now patent pending) which gives all dogs a "2-in-1" of toy and treats. Dogs enjoy the act of smelling it, stalking it, throwing it, shaking it, and then opening the secret pocket to eat treats.

After eating the treats, dogs often carry the empty Puppy Pinata around for days. They may even sleep with it. After the Puppy Pinata has served it's purpose, a new one is bought and the process starts over. With new flavors and plush toy themes the Puppy Pinata aims to give dogs worldwide a satisfying "2-in-1" toy plus treat experience.
